Radiesse works differently from hyaluronic acid fillers. Its active ingredient is calcium hydroxylapatite, the same mineral found in bone, suspended in a gel carrier. It adds volume right away and stimulates your own collagen. The gel absorbs over time and leaves behind collagen that maintains the result.
Dr. Schwartz uses Radiesse selectively, where its firmness and collagen stimulation give it an advantage over hyaluronic acid: to support the jawline, chin and cheeks, and in the hands. It is not appropriate for the lips or for areas that need very fine, superficial placement.
Collagen stimulation
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse stimulates your own collagen production. As the gel carrier absorbs over 12 to 18 months, your own collagen remains and continues to support the area.
Not reversible
Radiesse cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Results last a long time and fade gradually as the product absorbs, but cannot be reversed right away. Patient selection and precise technique are essential.
